Layered Potato Dish with Ground Meat and Tomatoes
A simple dish made from ingredients that we all love and usually have on hand. You can also call it moussaka, but it differs from the popular potato dish in a few minor details - tomatoes and zucchini are added for juiciness, and the topping is slightly different, as we use a mixture of egg and yogurt instead of béchamel sauce.

Ingredients
-
3 spoons Oil, vegetable oil, canola
-
1 piece Onion, raw
-
500 g Meat, beef, ground
-
5 pieces Tomato, red
-
1 piece Small pumpkins
-
2 pod Garlic, fresh
-
500 g Potatoes, white
-
100 g Cheese, Parmesan, grated
-
1 piece Egg, fresh
-
200 g Yogurt, plain, from whole milk
-
pieces Salt, table
Steps
-
Peel the onion and garlic, then finely chop them separately. Wash and clean the tomatoes and zucchini. Cut the zucchini and three tomatoes into small pieces, and slice the remaining two tomatoes.
-
In a heated, oiled pan, add the chopped onion and sauté until golden brown, stirring occasionally. Add the ground meat and continue to cook. When the meat turns light brown, add the chopped tomatoes, zucchini, and garlic. Season with pepper and salt, and simmer over moderate heat for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
-
Preheat the oven to 170°C (340°F). Peel the potatoes, wash them, and slice them thinly. Grease a deep baking dish with butter, then layer half of the potato slices on the bottom and cover them with the meat mixture. Spread the remaining potato slices on top and cover them with the tomato slices.
-
In a bowl, beat the egg, whisk it, and mix it with the yogurt. Sprinkle half of the grated cheese over the ingredients in the baking dish, then pour the yogurt mixture over it. Place the dish in the preheated oven for 40 minutes.
-
Sprinkle the remaining cheese over the layered dish, then set the oven to broil. Bake the dish in the preheated oven for a few more minutes, or until the top is nicely golden brown.
