Ingredients
-
250 g Lentils, raw
-
2 piece Chili peppers, red chili, fresh
-
1 piece Onion, raw
-
2 pod Garlic, fresh
-
1 piece Lemongrass
-
1 teaspoon Spices, coriander - seeds
-
1 pinch Salt, table
-
5 spoon Wheat flour, white, multi-purpose
-
pieces Oil, vegetable oil, canola
-
1 piece Egg, fresh
-
4 spoon Breadcrumbs, dried
-
1 teaspoon Baking powder
Steps
-
Thoroughly drain the soaked lentils. Wash the chili, remove the stems, and cut them into smaller pieces. Peel the garlic and onion, and roughly chop them. Wash the lemongrass stalk, cut off a piece from the bottom and a larger piece from the top, and roughly chop the rest.
-
Place the lentils, chili, onion, garlic, and lemongrass in an electric mixer and blend well. Transfer the mixture to a larger bowl and add cumin seeds, salt, flour, and baking powder. Knead the mixture into a dough.
-
Prepare three small bowls. Crack an egg into the first bowl and beat it well, while placing the flour and breadcrumbs in the other two bowls. With wet hands, form walnut-sized balls, first coat them in flour, then dip them in the egg, and finally roll them in breadcrumbs.
-
Place a medium-sized pot on the stove and heat the oil for frying. Fry the lentil balls in batches until golden brown. Use a slotted spoon to remove the fried balls from the pot and place them on paper towels to drain.
-
Arrange the balls on plates and serve them with a suitable side dish.
