Ingredients
-
900 g Potatoes, white
-
1 teaspoon Salt, table
-
3 pieces Garlic, fresh
-
8 spoon Oil, olive
-
2 pinch Spices, pepper, black
Steps
-
First, prepare the garlic oil. Pour olive oil into a small pot with a thick bottom. Peel the garlic cloves, cut them in half lengthwise, and add them to the pot with the oil. Place the pot on the stove and cook the contents on the lowest heat for 1 hour or until the garlic is completely softened.
-
Peel, clean, wash, and cut the potatoes into roughly equal-sized pieces. Place the potato pieces in a pot and cover them with cold water, ensuring the water is about two fingers above the potatoes. Salt the water and place the pot on the stove. Once the water boils, reduce the heat slightly and cook the potatoes covered for about 20 minutes.
-
Drain the cooked potatoes well and return them to the pot to steam off. Then add all the garlic cloves and half of the garlic oil. Coarsely mash the potatoes and garlic using a masher. Pour in the remaining oil and mash the potatoes thoroughly to achieve a smooth mash.
-
Taste the mash and season with additional salt and pepper if needed. Serve the prepared mash as a side dish.
