Meatballs in Creamy Tomato Sauce
One of those dishes that children will happily eat. You wont have much work with the preparation either, so meatballs in creamy tomato sauce are an excellent choice for a tasty family lunch or dinner during the week. You can also prepare the dish in advance or freeze it.

Ingredients

3 slices Bread, wheat

120 ml Milk, whole milk

300 g Meat, beef, ground

300 g Meat, pork, ground

1 piece Onion, raw

2 pod Garlic, fresh

2 piece Egg, fresh

0.5 teaspoons Spices, basil, dried

1 spoon Oil, olive

250 ml Tomato sauce, without salt

150 ml Sweet cream

150 ml Water

Cut the crust off the bread slices, then tear or cut them into pieces and place them in a bowl. Pour milk over the bread and let it soak. Meanwhile, peel the onion and garlic and finely grate them.

Preheat the oven to 200 degrees Celsius and line a low baking dish with parchment paper.

In a large bowl, add the ground meat, beaten egg, grated onion and garlic, soaked bread, Italian herbs, salt, and pepper. Mix the ingredients well with clean hands to evenly distribute the spices and form a uniform mixture.

Shape the prepared mixture into small meatballs, about the size of a ping pong ball, using wet hands. Place the meatballs on the baking dish and bake them in the preheated oven for 15 minutes.

Meanwhile, heat olive oil in a deeper pan on the stove. Add the tomato sauce, cream, and water. Mix well and season with salt and pepper to taste.

Once the sauce comes to a boil, add the meatballs. Cook for another 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the meatballs are fully cooked inside. If the sauce thickens too much, you can add a little water.

Serve the prepared dish with mashed potatoes, cooked rice, polenta, or pasta.
