Milk Bread Rolls
Light and soft savory rolls are a popular baked good, made from a milk-based yeast dough. They are excellent as an addition to one-pot meals, but you can also enjoy them for breakfast - with butter and jam, of course.

Ingredients
-
pieces Oil, vegetable oil, canola
-
400 g Wheat flour, white, multi-purpose
-
20 g Yeast, dry
-
1 spoon Sugar, white
-
240 ml Milk, whole milk
-
1 teaspoon Salt, table
-
50 g Butter, unsalted
-
1 piece Egg, fresh
-
pieces Butter, unsalted
Steps
-
First, prepare the yeast starter: crumble the yeast into a small bowl and add sugar, one tablespoon of flour, and 60 ml of warm milk. Mix the ingredients smoothly and let it sit in a warm place for 15 minutes to allow the yeast to rise slightly.
-
In a bowl, add the flour and make a well in the center. Sprinkle salt around the well, then pour the risen yeast starter into the well. Add the remaining milk, softened butter, and a beaten egg. Mix the ingredients well with your fingers or a fork until they come together to form a rough dough. Then, transfer the dough to a lightly floured work surface and knead it thoroughly. Once it becomes smooth and elastic and no longer sticks to your hands, shape it into a loaf and place it in a greased bowl. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let the dough rise at room temperature for 90 minutes or until it doubles in volume.
-
Transfer the risen dough to a lightly floured work surface. Quickly knead it, shape it into a thick roll, and cut it into 15 pieces. Line a deep rectangular baking dish (23 x 33 cm) with parchment paper. Shape the dough pieces into balls with your hands and place them in the prepared baking dish. Leave some space between the balls as they will rise a bit more. Once all the balls are in the dish, cover them with oiled plastic wrap and let them rise at room temperature for 60 minutes.
-
Bake the risen rolls in a preheated oven at 190°C for 15 to 20 minutes. Once they turn a nice golden brown, remove them from the oven and brush the tops with melted butter. Let them cool before serving.
