Ingredients
-
5 dl Milk, skimmed
-
1 pinch Salt, table
-
100 g Rice, white, long grain
-
1 spoon Sugar, white
-
1 bag Sugar, white
-
1 spoon Butter, unsalted
Steps
-
Pour cold milk into a suitably sized pot and add the remaining ingredients: rice, salt, sugar, and butter. Mix the ingredients in the pot.
-
Place the pot on moderate heat. Wait for the mixture to boil, then reduce the heat and cook the rice at a gentle simmer, stirring occasionally, for 25 - 30 minutes, or until the grains swell and soften. Be careful not to let the rice stick to the bottom of the pot during cooking.
-
Once the rice is ready, remove the pot from the heat and serve the dish in small bowls. Top the milk rice with cocoa or garnish it with your choice of additions (jam, chocolate chunks, fresh fruit, caramel, etc.).

Advice
Cook the rice at a low temperature so that the grains can slowly swell. If you want an even creamier and richer milk rice, you can replace 1/4 of the milk with sweet cream. For aroma and flavor, you can add a lemon zest or a cinnamon stick to the pot while cooking the rice.
