Milk Rice with Caramelized Apples

Ingredients
Caramelized apples

80 g Butter, unsalted

120 g Sugar, white

3 pieces Apple, fresh

pieces Juice, lemon

1 teaspoon Vanilla, extract, imitation
Milk rice

200 g Rice, white, short grain

500 ml Milk, whole milk

1 pinch Salt, table

2 spoons Sugar, white

1 bag Sugar, white

60 ml Sweet cream

Place the rice in a fine-mesh strainer. Rinse it under running water until the water runs clear. Drain the rinsed rice well.

Pour the milk into a pot, lightly salt it, and slowly bring it to a gentle boil over moderate heat. Add the drained rice to the boiling milk and cook it very slowly for about 20 minutes. Stir it gently several times during cooking.

While the rice is cooking, prepare the caramelized apples. First, wash the apples, then peel and cut them into chunks, removing the cores and seeds. Add butter and sugar to a pot. Heat while stirring until the sugar melts. Then stop stirring and cook over low heat until the mixture turns golden brown. Add the apple chunks, lemon juice, and vanilla extract. Gently stir the apples with a spatula to coat them evenly with the caramel mixture. Cook them for about 5 minutes until they soften nicely, then remove the pot from the heat.

Once the rice is cooked, mix in the sugar and sweet cream. Stir, bring to a boil, and remove from the heat.

Place a little caramel sauce at the bottom of the glasses (or bowls) in which you will serve the dessert. Add the milk rice on top and arrange the caramelized apples over it. Serve the prepared dessert warm or cold.
