From the ingredients according to the recipe, prepare a salty shortcrust pastry, shape it into a loaf, flatten it, divide it into four parts, and refrigerate for half an hour.

Thoroughly clean the mushrooms, wipe them with a damp cloth, and slice them. Peel the garlic cloves and crush them with a knife. Place a pan on the stove and melt the butter. Add the crushed garlic and mushrooms to the butter and sauté for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove the pan from the heat and season the mushrooms with salt and pepper.

Crack the eggs into a bowl, season them with salt and pepper, and whisk them well with a hand whisk. Add the cheese and milk and mix everything together well.

Preheat the oven to 200 degrees Celsius. Roll out the shortcrust pastry on a floured work surface to about 0.5 cm thick and line a well-greased and lightly floured pie dish with it. The pastry should slightly overlap the edges. Press the pastry gently with your fingers against the bottom and sides of the dish, then prick it with a fork in several places. Use a rolling pin to firmly press over the edge of the dish to trim off the excess pastry and create a nice edge. Pour the egg mixture over the pastry and evenly distribute the sautéed mushrooms (discard the garlic). Bake the pie in the preheated oven for about 40 minutes, until the egg filling turns golden brown.

Let the baked pie cool slightly, then cut it into smaller pieces. Serve the pieces on plates and enjoy. The pie can be served warm or cold.

The size of the pan in which we bake the pie should be between 22 and 25 cm. The pie can also be baked in a rectangular baking dish. The pie can also be prepared with puff pastry. The mushrooms can be seasoned with fresh thyme, parsley, and/or rosemary.
