Ingredients
-
130 g Wheat flour, white, multi-purpose
-
1 pinch Salt, table
-
0.5 teaspoons Baking powder
-
100 g Sugar, brown
-
80 g Oat bran, raw
-
120 g Butter, unsalted
-
2 piece Apple, fresh
-
2 spoons Juice, lemon
-
0.25 teaspoons Spices, cinnamon, ground
-
2 spoons Sugar, white
Steps
-
Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius. Line a medium-sized deep baking dish (approximately 18 x 28 centimeters) with baking paper (you can also grease it with butter).
-
In a bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, oatmeal, salt, and brown sugar. Add the cubed butter and fat, and rub it into the dry ingredients with your fingertips until the mixture resembles crumbs.
-
Pour a little more than half of the mixture into the baking dish and press it firmly with your palm to form a base that sticks together and is roughly even in thickness. Prick the dough all over with a fork several times. Place the dish in the preheated oven for 15 minutes. Store the remaining mixture in the refrigerator.
-
While the base is baking, wash, peel, and quarter the apples. Remove the stems and cores. Slice the quarters thinly. Place the sliced apples in a bowl, drizzle with lemon juice, and sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon. Gently mix.
-
Spread the apple slices over the half-baked base. Crumble the remaining mixture, which was stored in the refrigerator, on top. Bake the pastry in the preheated oven for about 35 minutes. It is done when the top turns golden brown and the apples soften.
-
Let the baked pastry cool before serving. Cut it into pieces of your desired size and serve with a cup of hot drink or a glass of milk.

Instead of regular flour, you can use whole wheat flour, which will make the pastry even more substantial.
