Steps

Sift the flour and baking powder into a bowl. Mix the sifted ingredients well.

Mix the softened butter, regular sugar, and orange sugar with an electric mixer until a light and fluffy mixture is obtained (approximately 4-5 minutes). Then reduce the mixer speed to medium and mix in the vanilla extract, egg, orange zest, and orange juice into the butter mixture.

Add the dry ingredient mixture and mix everything together on low speed until a smooth dough without lumps is formed. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate the dough for 1-2 hours (or overnight).

Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Shape small balls from the cold dough, first roll them in granulated sugar, then in powdered sugar. Place them on the baking sheet, leaving a few centimeters of space between them, as the cookies will spread slightly during baking.

Once the baking sheet is filled with the balls, bake them in the preheated oven for 10-14 minutes. The cookies are done when cracks form on the surface and the dough turns a gentle golden brown.

Let the baked cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
