Pavlova Cake with Strawberries
The cake is named after the famous Russian prima ballerina Anna Pavlova, as its whiteness and lightness resemble the costume in which Pavlova danced the role of the white swan in Swan Lake. The base of the cake is baked meringue, which is topped with whipped cream and fresh fruit before serving. We decided to use strawberries.

Ingredients
-
4 pieces Egg, egg white, fresh
-
220 g Powdered sugar
-
1 teaspoon Vinegar, distilled
-
1 teaspoon Vanilla, extract, imitation
-
1 teaspoon Koruzni škrob
-
500 g Strawberries
-
2.5 spoons Powdered sugar
-
2 spoons Juice, lemon
-
300 ml Sweet cream
Steps
-
Preheat the oven to 150 degrees Celsius. Draw a circle (the size of the plate on which you will serve the cake) on baking paper. Place the baking paper on a shallow baking tray.
-
Beat the egg whites with an electric mixer (or a hand whisk) until stiff peaks begin to form. Continue beating and gradually add the sugar (spoon by spoon) to the egg whites. Finally, mix in the vinegar, vanilla extract, and cornstarch into the meringue.
-
Fill the circle drawn on the baking paper with the meringue. Spread the meringue roughly over the paper with a spoon. Press the center of the meringue lightly with a spoon to form a hollow. Bake the meringue base in the preheated oven for 1 hour.
-
After 1 hour of baking, turn off the oven. Let the meringue base cool completely in the turned-off oven.
-
While the meringue is cooling, prepare the strawberries. First, clean them and rinse them under running water if necessary. Slice them and place them in a bowl. Sprinkle the sliced strawberries with two pinches of powdered sugar and drizzle with lemon juice. Mix well and store in the refrigerator until ready to use.
-
Whip the cream with the remaining powdered sugar. Place the cooled meringue on a serving plate. Fill the hollow with the whipped cream and arrange the sliced strawberries on top. Finally, drizzle the strawberries with the liquid that has collected in the bowl and serve the prepared dessert.

Advice
Instead of strawberries, you can also use other fresh fruits (e.g., blueberries, raspberries, currants, etc.).
