Ingredients
-
2 piece Pear, fresh
-
1 teaspoon Ginger, fresh
-
0.5 spoons Lemon zest, fresh
-
0.25 teaspoons Spices, cinnamon, ground
-
70 g Sugar, white
-
240 ml Milk, whole milk
-
1 teaspoon Vanilla, extract, imitation
-
250 g Wheat flour, white, multi-purpose
-
3 pieces Egg, egg white, fresh
-
pieces Oil, vegetable oil, canola
-
pieces Powdered sugar
Steps
-
Wash the pears, peel them, and cut them into small pieces. Place the pieces in a bowl, and add grated ginger, lemon zest, one tablespoon of sugar, and ground cinnamon. Mix the ingredients well in the bowl and let them sit for 15 minutes.
-
Beat the egg whites until stiff peaks form. In another bowl, mix the remaining sugar, milk, and vanilla extract. First, stir in the flour, then gently and slowly fold in the beaten egg whites. Finally, mix in the pear mixture, lemon zest, and ginger.
-
Heat oil in a large pot to 150 ºC (if you don’t have a thermometer, you can test the oil by dipping the handle of a wooden spoon into it. The oil is hot enough when bubbles form around the handle). Line a shallow plate with paper towels.
-
Take a medium-sized metal ice cream scoop and dip it into the hot oil for a few seconds. Then, scoop the batter and place it into the oil. The batter should easily slide off the oiled scoop. Fry the fritters gradually. Once they turn golden brown on one side, flip them and fry the other side. Repeat the process until all the batter is used.
-
Remove the fritters from the oil with a slotted spoon and transfer them to the plate lined with paper towels. Let the excess oil drain.
-
Serve the warm fritters on a large plate or platter, dust with powdered sugar, and enjoy.
