Penne with Ground Meat Sauce
No, this is definitely not penne with Bolognese sauce, as the popular meat sauce according to the original recipe also requires celery, carrots, wine, and broth. This sauce, however, is much simpler, but no less delicious!

1 teaspoon Sugar, white
-
0.75 teaspoons Salt, table

Steps
-
Peel and finely chop the onion and garlic. Place a large pot with an appropriate amount of water for cooking the pasta on the stove. Just before the water boils, salt it, then add the penne. Cook them for the time indicated on the package. Drain the cooked penne in a colander and let it drain well.
-
As soon as you place the pot with water for cooking the pasta on the stove, start preparing the sauce. Heat a little oil in a pan and sauté the onion and dried spices while stirring until the onion softens. Add the garlic and fresh thyme, and lightly season with pepper and salt. Sauté everything just long enough for the garlic to become fragrant. Transfer the contents of the pan to a plate.
-
Wipe the pan with a kitchen towel and place it back on the stove. Add a little more oil, and when it heats up, add the ground meat to the pan. While occasionally stirring, fry it on high heat until the pieces are crispy on all sides.
-
Add the sautéed onion with spices, canned tomatoes, chopped fresh basil, and sugar to the pan. Mix everything well and slowly bring to a boil over low heat. Once it boils, reduce the temperature and simmer uncovered for 15 minutes.
-
Taste the sauce and season with additional pepper and salt if desired. Add the drained penne and mix everything well. Serve the prepared pasta on plates. Garnish with fresh basil leaves and serve.

Advice
When cooking pasta, we follow the rule of using 1 liter of water for every 100 grams of pasta. For every liter of water, use between 10 to 12 grams of salt. Instead of penne, you can also use other types of pasta.
