- Preparation Time: 100 minutes
- Cooking Time: 30 minutes
- Difficulty: 2
- Spiciness: 0
- Number of Servings: 10
Ingredients
-
500 g Flour, Wheat, bread flour
-
1 cube Yeast, dry
-
4 spoon Sugar, white
-
1 pinch Salt, table
-
100 g Butter, unsalted
-
2.4 dl Milk, whole milk
-
4 pieces Egg, egg yolk, fresh
-
2 spoons Alcohol, Rum
-
1 bag Vanilla, extract, natural
-
1.5 teaspoons Orange, shell
-
1 spoon Juice, lemon
-
1 piece Egg, fresh
Steps
-
Sift the flour into a larger bowl and make a well in the center. Crumble the yeast into the well and add one tablespoon of sugar and 1 dl of warm milk. Sprinkle salt around the edge of the flour. Use a fork to break up and mix the ingredients in the well, then let it rise for 10 minutes.
-
Beat the egg yolks and the remaining sugar with an electric mixer until frothy. Add vanilla sugar, orange zest, lemon juice, melted butter, and rum. Mix all the ingredients well.
-
Pour the mixture into the bowl with the flour and yeast. Take a fork and start mixing in the center. Gradually incorporate more flour while slowly adding warm milk. You can use an electric mixer (with dough hooks) to help. Once all the flour is mixed with the mixture, start kneading the dough. Transfer the dough to a floured work surface and knead until it becomes smooth, elastic, and pliable. Shape the dough into a ball, cover it with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise for 60 minutes in a warm, draft-free place.
-
Quickly knead the risen dough, divide it into three parts, and shape each part into a loaf. Prepare a baking pan lined with parchment paper. Place the loaves on the pan, making sure they are spaced apart enough so they don't touch during baking. Lightly brush the loaves with water, cover them with a clean kitchen towel, and let them rise again in a warm place for 20 minutes. Meanwhile, preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius.
-
Crack an egg into a bowl and beat it well with a fork. When the bread has risen for the second time, uncover it and gently brush it with the egg (using a brush or your fingers). Make 3 Y-shaped cuts and bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes until golden brown.
