obliv
-
200 g chocolate, dark
-
125 g Butter, unsalted
Steps
-
Turn on the oven and set it to 200 °C. Heat the milk in a pot until it boils. Remove from heat and stir in the poppy seeds. Let it cool.
-
Crack the eggs and carefully separate the whites from the yolks. Beat the yolks with a whisk or electric mixer with sugar and vanilla sugar, and gradually add oil and the poppy seeds in milk while mixing. Mix well all the time. Sift the flour with baking powder and add it spoon by spoon to the liquid mixture while mixing. Beat the egg whites with powdered sugar into stiff peaks and gently fold them into the batter.
-
Grease and flour a smaller rectangular pan and pour the batter into it. Tap the pan to distribute the batter evenly, then place it in the preheated oven for 30 to 40 minutes.
-
Prepare the chocolate glaze: place a pot of water on the stove. Cut the butter into slices. Break the chocolate into pieces and place them in a heatproof bowl with the butter slices. Place the bowl in a water bath (see notes). When the chocolate begins to soften, stir it several times to get a creamy mixture.
-
Take the baked cake out of the oven and let it cool first for 10 minutes in the pan, then turn it out onto a rack and let it cool completely. Cut the cake horizontally and spread half of the chocolate glaze on it. Place the top layer of the cake on the chocolate glaze and pour the remaining glaze over it. Cut into slices and serve.

Advice
A water bath is used for melting and dissolving delicate foods and ingredients or for frothy mixing (especially for preparing various sauces and creams). Place a heatproof container with the ingredients on another container with hot water and whisk the ingredients in the upper container with a whisk until they thicken and foam. The water in the lower container should not boil vigorously! The cup used for preparing the cake should have a volume of 2 to 2.5 dl. It is important to measure all ingredients with the same cup.
