Pork Chops with Sauerkraut and Apple
A quick and tasty dish that doesnt require many ingredients, as it is prepared in just one pan, and you wont have much dishwashing to do either. Apples, pork chops, and sauerkraut make an excellent combination of sweet, salty, and sour. You can enjoy this dish for lunch or dinner, and if you dont have time to prepare a side, simply serve it with a slice or two of bread.

Ingredients

2 spoons Oil, vegetable oil, canola

pieces Meat, pork, ribs

1 piece Onion, raw

2 piece Apple, fresh

500 g Sauerkraut

Steps

Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius.

Rinse the pork chops under running water and dry them well with paper towels. Season both sides with pepper and salt.

Peel the onion and chop it finely. Wash the apples and cut them into quarters, removing the core. Then slice the quarters into wedges.

Heat oil in a large pan. Add the seasoned pork chops and cook them over medium heat for 2-3 minutes until they are golden brown on the bottom side, then flip and cook for another 2-3 minutes on the other side.

Remove the cooked pork chops from the pan and set them aside on a plate. Add the onion to the pan and sauté until translucent, then add the apples and sauerkraut and cook for another 3 minutes. Season with pepper and salt to taste and add a little water (just enough to create a bit of sauce in the pan).

Return the cooked pork chops to the pan along with any juices that have collected on the plate. Add a few sprigs of thyme, then cover the pan and place it in the preheated oven for 35-45 minutes. Serve the dish with potatoes, bread dumplings, or bread.
