Steps

Preheat the oven to 190 degrees Celsius. Sift the flour into a bowl and mix it with baking powder. Add sugar, cubed butter, egg yolks, and lemon zest. Quickly knead the ingredients into a dough.

In another bowl, mix the cottage cheese, sour cream, sugar, semolina, vanilla extract, and lemon zest. Beat the egg whites until stiff peaks form and gently fold them into the cottage cheese mixture.

Roll out the dough so that half of it can cover the bottom of a baking dish, sized 30 x 20 centimeters (previously grease and flour the dish or line it with baking paper). Cover it with the cottage cheese filling, and then top it with the other half of the dough.

Bake the pastry in the preheated oven for 35 minutes, until the top turns golden brown. Once cooled, dust with powdered sugar if desired and cut into pieces of any size.
