Ingredients
-
380 g Cheese, cottage cheese
-
1 spoon Salt, table
-
2 piece Egg, fresh
-
170 g Wheat flour, white, multi-purpose
-
10 g Baking powder
-
pieces Oil, vegetable oil, canola
Steps
-
In a bowl, crumble the cottage cheese and mix it with salt (if needed, mash the cheese with a fork). Add the eggs and mix everything well.
-
In another bowl, sift the flour and baking powder. Mix the sifted ingredients and add them to the egg and cheese mixture. Mix well to form a uniform batter. If the batter is too thick, add a little water.
-
Heat oil in a large pot to 180 ÂșC (if you don't have a thermometer, you can test the oil by dipping the handle of a wooden spoon into it. The oil is hot enough when bubbles start forming around the handle).
-
Shape the batter into small balls with your hands and fry them in the hot oil until golden brown. Remove the fried balls with a slotted spoon and drain them on paper towels.
-
Serve the hot balls on a large plate or platter. Offer them as a side dish or snack.

Advice
You can drop the batter into the oil using a greased spoon. In this case, the balls wont have a nice round shape. You can add chopped fresh herbs (chives, parsley, basil, etc.) to the batter if desired.
