Ingredients
-
8 pieces Egg, fresh
-
1 handful Onion, raw
-
3 dl Raspberries
-
3 dl cherries, fresh
-
4 dl Water
-
3 spoons Vinegar, red wine
Steps
-
Pour the juices, two tablespoons of vinegar, and water into a wider pot. Add the onion skins, stir with a spoon, and place on the stove. Cook on moderate heat for one hour, stirring occasionally and pressing the onion skins with a spoon.
-
After one hour, remove the onion skins from the pot. Wash the eggs well, then carefully place them into the colored liquid using a spoon. If they are not fully submerged, add a little more water or juice to cover the eggs completely. Add another tablespoon of vinegar and cook the eggs on moderate heat for about 10 minutes. Check the color with a spoon – carefully catch and lift them. If you are not satisfied with the color, leave the eggs in the water for a few more hours. If you are happy with the color, remove the eggs from the water and rub them with oil, butter, or bacon rind. This will give them a nice shine.

When the ingredients release an intense color in the water that you are satisfied with – only then add the eggs. Never forget to add vinegar – lemon juice is not as effective. Any curiosity or poking at the eggs with a spoon will leave marks, and the eggs will be scratched. Forget about naturally black eggs, unless you are okay with a gray color (oak bark, black tea).
