Roasted Potatoes with Sausage and Cheese

350 g Potatoes, white

3 spoons Butter, unsalted

Steps

Thoroughly wash the potatoes under running water. Peel them if desired, but it's not necessary, especially with young potatoes that have thin skins.

Take one potato and place it on a cutting board. Place two chopsticks parallel to it, then make deep cuts into the potato at 0.5 cm intervals, ensuring the potato remains intact. The chopsticks are very helpful here - when the knife touches them, stop cutting. Repeat this process with all the potatoes.

Heat the sliced potatoes in the microwave for 4 to 6 minutes - just enough time for them to almost fully soften. Then arrange the potatoes on a baking tray lined with parchment paper, brush them with melted butter, and season with salt and freshly ground pepper. Place the tray in the oven preheated to 220°C (428°F) for 10 minutes.

While the potatoes are baking, crisp up thinly sliced sausage in a pan.

Remove the tray with the potatoes from the oven and insert the crispy sausage slices into the cuts. Sprinkle a little grated cheese over each potato. Turn on the broiler and return the tray to the oven just long enough for the cheese to melt and turn golden brown. Serve the roasted potatoes immediately.
