Ingredients
-
2 spoons Oil, vegetable oil, canola
-
pieces Bacon
Sauerkraut
-
1.5 spoons Oil, vegetable oil, canola
-
0.5 piece Onion, raw
-
600 g Sauerkraut
-
pieces Spices, pepper, black
-
2 piece Spices, bay (leaves)
-
pieces Water
-
pieces Salt, table
Steps
-
Peel and finely chop the onion. Taste the sauerkraut; if it seems too sour, quickly rinse it in a colander under cold running water.
-
Heat oil in a pot and sauté the onion until translucent. Add the sauerkraut, bay leaf, and juniper berries, and mix everything well. Pour in a little water and bring the contents to a boil. Reduce the heat, cover the pot, and simmer the sauerkraut until it is completely softened (about 30 minutes). Add more water if needed.
-
Add the sausages to the pot and pour in enough lukewarm water to almost fully cover them. Once the water boils, cook the sausages over low heat for 15 minutes.
-
Once the sausages are cooked, brown them golden on both sides in heated oil. Season the cooked sauerkraut with pepper and salt to taste.
-
Serve the browned sausages and sauerkraut on plates. Pair the dish with your chosen side.
