Sesame Seed Buns
For a good burger, besides the meat, sauce, and vegetables, we also need sesame seed buns. They act as a kind of framework that holds all the ingredients together. And since they are truly an indispensable element, its best not to trust anyone else and bake them ourselves.

Ingredients
-
0.5 dl Water
-
14 g Yeast, dry
-
1.5 spoons Sugar, white
-
500 g Wheat flour, white, multi-purpose
-
10 g Salt, table
-
2.5 dl Milk, whole milk
-
40 g Butter, unsalted
-
1 piece Egg, fresh
-
2 spoons Sesame seeds, dried
Steps
-
In a small bowl, mix the yeast, sugar, and lukewarm water. Let it sit for 10 minutes to allow the yeast to activate.
-
In a large bowl, add the flour and make a well in the center. Sprinkle the salt around the edges of the flour, and pour the activated yeast into the well. Start mixing the ingredients with a spoon, gradually adding warm milk and melted butter. Once you have a rough dough, turn it out onto a floured surface and knead it well. The kneaded dough should be smooth, compact, and elastic, and it should not stick to your hands or the work surface. If it's too wet, add a bit more flour.
-
Shape the dough into a ball and place it in a greased bowl. Cover the bowl with a clean cloth or greased plastic wrap. Let the dough rise in a warm place for one hour, or until it has doubled in size.
-
Punch down the risen dough and gently knead it. Divide it into 6 to 10 pieces (depending on the desired size of the buns). Shape each piece into a smooth, shiny ball using your hands. Place the balls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and cover with greased plastic wrap (or a cloth). Let them rise in a warm place for 50 minutes, or until they have doubled in size.
-
Preheat the oven to 200°C (392°F). Place a container of hot water at the bottom of the oven. Brush the risen buns with beaten egg and sprinkle with sesame seeds. Bake them in the preheated oven for 15 to 20 minutes, or until they are nicely golden brown on top.
