Shakshuka
Shakshuka is a traditional Arabic dish that closely resembles sataraš. Both dishes are made with eggs, peppers, and tomatoes. However, they differ significantly in preparation and ingredients - in shakshuka, the eggs remain whole, there is much less pepper, and the addition of selected spices provides a special flavor. This dish is an excellent idea for a delicious lunch or dinner, and you can also enjoy it for breakfast.

-
3 pods Garlic, fresh
-
1 teaspoon Spices, cumin, seeds
-
1 teaspoon Spices, paprika

-
750 g Tomato, pieces - can
-
140 g Cheese, feta
-
6 pieces Egg, fresh
-
pieces Salt, table
-
pieces Parsley, fresh
Steps
-
Preheat the oven to 190 degrees Celsius. Peel the onion, halve it, and slice it thinly. Wash the pepper, clean it (remove the stem and seeds), and cut it into slices.
-
Heat oil in a large ovenproof pan. Sauté the onion and pepper over medium heat, stirring occasionally, for about 20 minutes or until the onion softens and slightly browns.
-
Peel and finely chop the garlic. Add it to the pan with the sautéed vegetables, cook for 1 to 2 minutes while stirring, then add the spices (cumin, paprika, and cayenne pepper). Quickly sauté everything, pour in the tomatoes, and season with salt and pepper to taste. Let the sauce simmer over moderate heat for 10 minutes or until it thickens slightly.
-
Remove the pan from the heat and crumble feta cheese into the sauce. Use a spoon to make 6 indentations in the sauce and crack an egg into each. Lightly season the eggs with salt and pepper. Place the pan in the preheated oven for 7 to 10 minutes to bake the eggs.
-
Once the eggs are baked, remove the pan from the oven. Sprinkle the prepared dish with chopped parsley. You can also use a few whole parsley leaves for decoration. Serve the dish with bread.
