Snail Rolls from Leavened Dough
We all love pizza for its countless flavor possibilities and the various ways it can be prepared. For example, the dough can be topped as desired and rolled into a long log, which is then sliced and baked. This results in delicious snail rolls or spirals, perfect for snacks, picnics, and childrens birthday parties. They can also be served as an accompaniment to cream soup or salad. These rolls are good both warm and cold, and you can get creative with the fillings. This time, I present a basic filling made of tomato pulp, grated cheese, and oregano, but you can also use various salamis, meats, peppers, corn, onions, olives… basically anything you can think of.

Ingredients
Dough
-
500 g Flour, Wheat, bread flour
-
1 piece Yeast, dry
-
1 teaspoon Sugar, white
-
1 teaspoon Salt, table
-
300 ml Water
-
1 spoon Oil, olive
Filling
-
3 spoons Oil, olive
-
4 spoon Tomato sauce, without salt
-
200 g Cheese, edamame
-
pieces Spices, oregano, dried
-
pieces Basil, fresh
Steps
-
Place the flour, sugar, and crumbled yeast (or dry yeast) in a multipurpose mixer. Sprinkle the salt around the edge of the bowl. Add water and oil, and knead into a soft dough. Shape the kneaded dough into a ball and let it rest for about half an hour until it doubles in volume.
-
Once the dough has risen, lightly flour the work surface and roll out the dough as thinly as possible.
-
Brush the dough with oil using a brush, then add the tomato pulp and spread it evenly to the edges.
-
Sprinkle the dough with grated cheese and oregano, then tightly roll it up along the longer side into a log.
-
Using a thread (or dental floss), cut the log into approximately 4 cm thick slices.
-
Line a baking tray with parchment paper, then place the prepared snail rolls on it, standing upright. Leave a few centimeters of space between them. Add a little more cheese on top of each roll and sprinkle with oregano.
-
Bake the rolls in a preheated oven at 200°C for 20 minutes. Once baked, you can garnish them with fresh basil. Enjoy!
