In a bowl, mix the flour, salt, and sugar. Add the cold butter, cut into pieces, to the mixture. Use your fingertips to rub the butter into the dry ingredients until it resembles breadcrumbs, then mix in the oats. Store the mixture in the refrigerator until ready to use.
-
Preheat the oven to 200°C. Wash the plums, halve them, and remove the pits. Place the halves in a deep baking dish and add water, lemon juice, brown sugar, cornstarch, star anise, ground cinnamon, and vanilla sugar. Mix the ingredients well and spread the plums evenly in the dish. Cover with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 1 hour.
-
Remove the dish from the oven and carefully take off the foil and star anise. Sprinkle the butter crumble and oat mixture over the fruit. Return the dish to the oven for another 25 to 30 minutes, until the crumble is golden brown.
-
The dessert can be served warm or well-chilled before serving. Offer it with ice cream, custard, Greek yogurt, or cold whipped cream.
