Spinach Roll with Ham
Sliced into pieces, the roll is a tasty, inexpensive, and quickly prepared snack, suitable for parties, picnics, or celebrations. If served with a bowl of salad, it makes an excellent idea for a light lunch or dinner. The roll can be enriched with the addition of cream cheese (cheese spread), to which we can mix in any chopped herbs as desired.

300 g Spinach, raw

5 pieces Egg, fresh

100 g Wheat flour, white, multi-purpose

2 spoons Koruzni škrob

1 pod Garlic, fresh

4 slice Ham, pressed

Clean the spinach, wash it, dry it well with paper towels, and chop it.

In a small bowl, mix the flour and cornstarch. Peel the garlic and grind it into a paste with a pinch of salt. Separate the egg whites and yolks into two bowls. Whisk the yolks with a hand whisk, then mix in the garlic paste and the sifted mixture of flour and starch. You should get a smooth mixture without lumps.

Add a pinch of salt to the egg whites and beat them into a firm but not too dry foam, which you gently and slowly fold into the yolk mixture with a spatula or whisk. Finally, mix in the chopped spinach and season the mixture with salt and pepper to taste.

Line a low baking dish with parchment paper and grease it with butter. Pour the spinach mixture into the dish and spread it evenly with a spatula. Bake the sponge in the oven preheated to 160 degrees Celsius for 15-17 minutes.

Take the baked spinach sponge out of the oven and carefully remove the parchment paper from the bottom. Layer it with slices of ham, then roll it up into a roll, wrap it in aluminum foil, and let it cool. Once cooled, slice it into pieces, stick toothpicks into them, serve them on a plate or platter, and enjoy.
