Steaks in Sauce with Fried Cheese Balls
We all know grandmas steaks in sauce and the impatience that came with waiting to gather around the table and enjoy the delicious and tender beef steaks, generously covered in thick sauce, which we never got tired of. Alongside the traditionally prepared steaks, this time I served fried cheese balls as a side dish, which are so good that they delight not only the youngest. This is truly a perfect combination.

-
2 pod Garlic, fresh
-
1 dl Alcohol, Wine, White
-
600 g Meat, beef, thigh
-
pieces Flour, Wheat, bread flour
-
pieces Salt, table
-
0.5 l Soup base, beef, cube
-
1 piece Spices, bay (leaves)
-
1 dl Sweet cream
-
pieces Parsley, fresh
Steps
-
Clean, wash, and finely chop all the vegetables.
-
Heat oil in a deeper pot and sauté the vegetables over low heat until they become translucent. Add wine and cook.
-
Season the steaks with salt and pepper, generously dust them with flour, and place them on the sautéed vegetables. Pour in the broth, add a bay leaf, and cook covered over low heat for at least an hour or until the meat becomes very tender. If the liquid reduces too much, add a little more water.
-
Once the steaks are tender, mix a spoonful of flour into the sauce and add sweet cream. Cook the steaks in the sauce for another 10 minutes. Check if the sauce is salty/thick enough.
-
While the steaks are cooking, prepare the cheese balls. Mix the cheese, eggs, salt, and breadcrumbs into a smooth and compact mixture. Since the cheese varies in moisture, add the breadcrumbs gradually. Let the prepared mixture rest for 10 minutes to allow the breadcrumbs to absorb moisture.
-
Shape the mixture into walnut-sized balls (use a spoon to help), lightly coat them in breadcrumbs (just enough so they don't stick together), then fry them golden in oil heated to 160-170 degrees Celsius. Remove the fried balls with a slotted spoon and drain them on paper towels.
-
Serve the steaks in sauce along with the fried cheese balls on plates. Enjoy your meal!
