Ingredients
Dough
-
55 g Butter, unsalted
-
160 g Sugar, brown
-
130 g Syrup, maple
-
2 piece Egg, fresh
-
330 ml Water
-
220 g Date, fresh or dried
-
1 teaspoon Baking powder
-
200 g Flour, Wheat, bread flour
Dressing
-
80 g Butter, unsalted
-
140 g Sugar, brown
-
150 ml Sweet cream
-
1 pinch Salt, table
-
60 g chocolate, dark
Steps
-
Preheat the oven to 190°C. Grease a deep rectangular baking dish well. Place a pot of water on the stove and wait for it to boil. Put the dates in a food processor and pour the boiling water over them. Blend until you get a smooth puree. Finally, add the baking powder.
-
Prepare the batter. In a bowl, using a hand mixer, cream the butter and sugar until fluffy. Add the maple syrup and mix well. Gradually add the eggs while continuously mixing. Mix until you get a frothy egg mixture.
-
Gently fold the flour and blended dates into the egg mixture. Pour the batter into the greased baking dish and bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes. The cake should be baked but still moist and tender!
-
Let the baked cake cool. Prepare the glaze. In a pot over medium heat, melt the butter and sugar. Break the chocolate into pieces. Remove the pot from the heat and mix the melted butter with cream, salt, and chocolate. Stir until the chocolate is completely melted.
-
Cut the cake into slices and arrange them on plates. Drizzle with the prepared glaze and serve.
