-
0.25 teaspoons Salt, table
-
0.25 teaspoons Spices, pepper, white
-
pieces Oil, plant, sunflower
-
140 g Nuts, Indian, roasted, unsalted
-
pieces Onion, young
-
1 teaspoon Sesame seeds, dried
-
1 pinch Chili peppers, red chili, dried
Sauce
-
1 spoon Koruzni škrob
-
2 spoons Soy sauce, shoyu, less salt
-
1 spoon Soy sauce, shoyu
-
2 pod Garlic, fresh
-
3 spoons Hoisin sauce
-
2 spoons Sugar, brown
-
1 spoon Oil, sesame
-
120 ml Soup base, chicken, cube
Steps
-
Cut the chicken into bite-sized pieces. Crack an egg into a bowl and whisk it with a fork. Add the chicken pieces and mix them with the whisked egg. If there is too much egg, remove or pour it out of the bowl.
-
Add starch, salt, and ground pepper to the bowl with the chicken. Mix well so that the starch and spices coat all the chicken pieces evenly.
-
Place a deep pan or wok on the stove. Pour oil into the pan and heat it well. Add half of the seasoned chicken and fry it on hot oil, stirring occasionally, until golden brown. Remove the fried chicken from the pan and place it on a plate lined with paper towels. Add a bit more oil to the pan if needed and fry the remaining chicken.
-
Meanwhile, prepare the sauce. In a small bowl, mix light and dark soy sauce, minced garlic, hoisin sauce, and cornstarch. Once you have a uniform mixture, add chicken stock, brown sugar, and sesame oil.
-
Remove the remaining fried chicken from the pan and place it on the plate. Pour out the excess oil, then add the sauce to the pan and heat it until it boils.
-
Return the fried chicken to the pan and add the cashews and half of the chopped green onions. Cook for another 2-4 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the chicken is heated through and the sauce thickens appropriately.
-
Serve the prepared dish with cooked rice. Sprinkle the remaining green onions, sesame seeds, and a bit of chili flakes on top.

Advice
Hoisin sauce is a thick, sweet, and spicy Asian sauce commonly used in Chinese cuisine. It is made from fermented soybeans, sugar, rice vinegar, and spices, giving it a unique flavor that pairs excellently with meat dishes, vegetable stir-fries, and as a dipping sauce. Instead of cashews, you can use peanuts.
