Ingredients
-
900 g Meat, beef, ground
-
1.5 cups Breadcrumbs, dried
-
180 ml Milk, partially skimmed
-
3 slices Bread, wheat
-
1 piece Onion, raw
-
0.5 teaspoons Salt, table
-
1 teaspoon Spices, pepper, black
-
1 teaspoon Spices, nutmeg, ground
-
40 g Butter, unsalted
-
2.5 dl Soup base, beef, cube
-
2 dl Sweet cream, partially skimmed
Steps
-
Peel, wash, and finely chop the onion. Heat a pan and melt 10 g of butter in it, then quickly sauté the onion while stirring until it becomes translucent. Let the onion cool.
-
In a larger bowl, crumble the bread pieces and mix in the breadcrumbs. Add the cooled onion, nutmeg, and milk. Mix the mixture well and let it sit for 10 minutes so the bread absorbs the liquid.
-
Add the ground beef, salt, and pepper to the bread mixture and knead well with your hands to ensure all ingredients are evenly distributed. Shape the mixture into walnut-sized balls. Melt the remaining butter in the pan and fry the meatballs until they are nicely browned on all sides. Be careful not to overcrowd the pan.
-
Transfer the cooked meatballs to a plate and prepare the sauce in the same pan. Pour in the beef broth and sweet cream. Cook everything over moderate heat for about 5 minutes. Then increase the heat and let the sauce come to a boil. Let it boil for 1 minute. Reduce the heat and add the cooked meatballs. Cook everything together over low heat for another 2 minutes. Serve the meatballs with the sauce on plates and enjoy.
