Tomato Sauce from Canned Tomatoes
Its good to always have canned tomatoes on hand, as with a little effort, we can prepare an excellent sauce that can be used for many dishes.

Ingredients

300 g Tomato, pieces - can

2 pod Garlic, fresh

1 pinch Sugar, white

3 spoons Oil, olive

0.5 teaspoons Salt, table

1 handful Basil, fresh
Steps

Drain the tomatoes from the can into a colander placed over a bowl to catch the juice. Remove the seeds from the tomatoes. Peel and finely chop the garlic. Wash and dry the basil leaves.

Transfer the tomatoes along with the collected juice into a pot. Add the chopped garlic and a pinch of sugar to the pot. Cover the pot and slowly cook the contents over moderate heat without stirring for 20 minutes.

Mash the tomatoes with a wooden spoon and lightly salt the sauce. Cover and cook for another 15 minutes.

Remove the pot from the heat and mix olive oil into the prepared sauce. Taste the sauce and add more salt if needed. Finally, tear the basil leaves into the sauce.

Advice
The prepared sauce can be used for making pasta and pizzas, as well as vegetable, meat, or seafood dishes. If the sauce is prepared only from peeled and drained tomatoes (save the drained liquid and use it for another dish), it is enough to cook it for 15 minutes. For a more intense flavor, mix in a tablespoon of tomato paste or finely chopped sun-dried tomatoes. For preparing the sauce, you can also use tomato puree or diced tomatoes.
