Ingredients
-
4 pieces Pear, fresh
-
2 spoons Juice, lemon
-
175 g Sugar, brown
-
2 spoons Honey
-
3 pieces Egg, fresh
-
120 ml Oil, vegetable oil, canola
-
115 g Wheat flour, white, multi-purpose
-
0.75 teaspoons Baking powder
-
50 g Polenta
-
pieces Butter, unsalted
Steps
-
Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius. Set the rack to the middle height. Grease a round 20 cm diameter cake pan well. Sprinkle about two tablespoons of sugar on the bottom of the pan. Wash, dry, peel, and slice the pears. Remove the stems and cores. Toss the slices in a bowl, pour over lemon juice, and mix well. Then arrange the seasoned slices on the bottom of the pan. Drizzle them with honey.
-
In a bowl, whisk the eggs and the remaining sugar until frothy. While mixing, slowly pour in the oil. In another bowl, sift the flour and mix it with polenta and baking powder. Gradually fold the dry mixture into the egg mixture. Once you have a smooth batter without lumps, pour it into the pan. Spread the batter evenly and smooth the top. Place the pan in the preheated oven for about 50 minutes.
-
The cake is done when the surface turns golden brown, and a toothpick inserted into the cake comes out clean. Remove the baked cake from the oven and let it cool in the pan for about 10 minutes. Invert a large serving plate over the pan. Carefully flip the pan, making sure not to burn yourself. Cut the cake into desired-sized pieces, serve on plates, and enjoy.
