Ingredients
-
500 g Flour, Wheat, bread flour
-
2 piece Egg, fresh
-
375 ml Water
-
0.75 teaspoons Salt, table
-
40 g Butter, unsalted
Steps
-
Mix flour, eggs, a quarter teaspoon of salt, and lukewarm water to make the dough. Beat it thoroughly with a whisk until bubbles start to form. The dough should be thick and free of lumps.
-
Bring a pot of water to a boil, seasoned with half a teaspoon of salt. Once the water is boiling, cook the dumplings. Dumplings can be shaped in several ways: using a special tool called a press, by pushing through a sieve, by scraping with a knife from a board, or most commonly, by using a moistened spoon to scoop pieces of dough and drop them into the boiling water.
-
Cook the dumplings for 5 minutes, then remove them from the water with a slotted spoon and drain. If served as a side dish to meat dishes, warm them in hot butter before serving.
