Whipped Hearts

Ingredients

1 teaspoon Orange, shell

400 g Wheat flour, white, multi-purpose

250 g Butter, unsalted

100 g Powdered sugar

60 g Nuts, hazelnuts

2 pinch Spices, cinnamon, ground

3 pieces Egg, egg yolk, fresh

Steps

Wash the orange thoroughly and dry it, then finely grate the zest. Sift the flour onto the work surface, add butter, sugar, ground hazelnuts, cinnamon, orange zest, and vanilla sugar. Beat the eggs and separate the yolks from the whites. Discard the whites and add the yolks to the other ingredients. Knead all the ingredients into a smooth and pliable dough.

Wrap the dough in foil and place it in the refrigerator for 30 minutes. Roll out the rested dough on a floured work surface to a thickness of 3 mm. Use heart-shaped cookie cutters to cut out cookies from the dough. For half of the cookies, use a smaller round cutter to cut out 3 circles, as shown in the photo.

Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius. Prepare a baking tray lined with parchment paper and arrange the cut-out cookies on it. Place the tray in the preheated oven for 10 minutes, until the cookies turn golden brown.

Remove the tray from the oven and place the cookies on a wire rack to cool slightly. Spread jam on the whole heart cookies and place the cookies with circles on top. Dust the assembled cookies with powdered sugar, arrange them on a serving platter, and offer them to your guests.

Advice
It is best to use an organic orange, the peel of which has not been treated with pesticides. If organic oranges are not available, immerse the orange in boiling water for a few minutes and wipe it well to remove the wax, which contains toxins.
