Whole Wheat Waffles
If you have a waffle maker at home that has been sitting in the cupboard for a long time, this recipe will surely inspire you to use it. We are convinced that you wont use it just once, as these waffles are absolutely delicious. Made with whole wheat flour, they also offer a slightly healthier yet still very tasty breakfast option.

Ingredients

170 g Flour, Whole wheat

1.5 teaspoons Baking powder

0.25 teaspoons Salt, table

25 g Sugar, brown

1 piece Egg, fresh

75 g Frying fat, coconut

360 ml Milk, whole milk

Steps

Place a small pot with butter on the stove and slowly melt it over low heat. Remove the pot from the heat and let the butter cool slightly.

In a bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar. In another bowl, whisk together the eggs, melted butter, and milk with a hand whisk.

Pour the mixture of milk, eggs, and butter into the bowl with the dry ingredients and mix everything together with a hand whisk. Mix just enough to ensure the ingredients are well moistened.

Preheat the waffle maker and lightly grease it with oil (or butter). Pour a small ladle of batter into the hot waffle maker. Close the lid and bake the waffle for 4 to 6 minutes until it turns golden brown. Remove the baked waffle from the maker and transfer it to a plate. Repeat the process until you run out of batter.

Serve the baked waffles on plates, drizzle with maple syrup or honey, top with fresh fruit, and serve.

Advice
Instead of coconut oil, you can use regular butter or oil. You can add vanilla essence to the waffle batter, and if needed, add a bit more sugar.
