Ingredients
-
250 ml Oil, vegetable oil, canola
-
250 g Sugar, white
-
100 ml Milk, whole milk
-
4 pieces Egg, fresh
-
1 teaspoon Vanilla, extract, imitation
-
300 g Wheat flour, white, multi-purpose
-
1 teaspoon Baking powder
-
25 g Cocoa, powdered, unsweetened
-
1 teaspoon Orange, shell
-
pieces Oil, vegetable oil, canola
Steps
-
Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius. Grease a round cake pan with a removable rim with oil. Line the bottom of the pan with baking paper, which you lightly grease with oil again.
-
In a large bowl, mix oil, milk, eggs, sugar, and vanilla extract. It is best to mix with a hand whisk to avoid incorporating too much air into the mixture. Divide the mixture into two parts.
-
Sift 175 g of flour into one part of the mixture. Add 0.5 teaspoons of baking powder and mix everything into a smooth batter without lumps.
-
Sift 125 g of flour and cocoa powder into the other part of the mixture. Add 0.5 teaspoons of baking powder and grated orange zest, then mix everything into a smooth batter without lumps.
-
Place a spoonful of the light batter in the center of the pan. Then place a spoonful of the dark batter in the center of the light batter. Repeat the process until both batters are used up.
-
Bake the cake in the preheated oven for about 35 minutes. The cake is done when the surface turns golden brown, and a toothpick inserted into the cake comes out clean.
-
Once the cake is baked, remove it from the oven and let it cool in the pan for a few minutes. Then remove it from the pan and let it cool completely on a wire rack.
-
Serve the cake warm or completely cooled on a large plate, cut into desired-sized pieces, and serve on plates. Optionally, serve the cake with a scoop of ice cream.

Advice
It is best to use organic oranges, the peel of which has not been treated with pesticides. If organic oranges are not available, immerse the orange in boiling water for a few minutes, then wipe it thoroughly to remove the wax, which contains toxins. Instead of sunflower oil, you can use another vegetable oil with a neutral flavor. Vanilla extract can be purchased or made at home.
